We are looking for volunteer dental hygienists to join our new free dental program to provide compassionate dental hygiene care to our working uninsured patients.
Volunteer shifts are available Wednesdays and Thursdays. The dental program will offer assessment, treatment planning, adult prophylaxis, scaling & root planing, simple direct restorations, and simple extractions using Adec equipment, Acteon Piezo, Sharp instruments, Dexis digital radiography and Curve Dental Software. Specialty consultation will be offered through our private practice network.
This is a great opportunity for a new dental hygiene grad to work on increasing their
speed in a supportive environment while giving back to the community!

Description
Clinic by the Bay is San Francisco's Volunteers in Medicine clinic. We serve the primary medical needs of the working uninsured in the San Francisco Bay Area
As part of the national network of Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) clinics, Clinic by the Bay is about neighbor helping neighbor. We provide a caring medical home for our patients so they can work, attend school, care for their families and be productive members of their community.
Clinic by the Bay does not rely on government funding and accepts no insurance. We are supported by private institutional and individual gifts, plus in-kind contributions of professional services and supplies.
Our volunteers are retired and practicing doctors, dentists, nurses, and other community volunteers (e.g., receptionists, eligibility screeners, interpreters, computer experts, health educators) who provide compassionate care to our working uninsured neighbors.

- Be able to commit to a minimum of 6 consecutive months; After training period, be able to commit to at least one 4 hour shift per month
- For the first 3 months of training, be able to commit to two volunteer shifts per month with three being in-person training shifts. Each shift of 4 hours.
