Advocacy is...
Advocacy includes providing emotional support and information to survivors of sexual violence.

Our volunteer advocates assist survivors immediately after a a sexual assault by accompanying them to the Newberry Memorial Hospital ER. Advocates provide information about medical and law enforcement processes, emotional support to the survivor and their friends/family members, and crisis intervention to help reduce the trauma a survivor experiences from an attempted or completed sexual assault.

Advocates that serve Newberry County accompany survivors to Newberry Memorial Hospital after completing training in Columbia or Newberry. They are called on an as-needed basis rather than having a regular schedule. For more details on scheduling, please contact us!

THERE IS AN APPLICATION PROCESS. Contact us if you have ANY questions or to begin the application process!!!!

Thank you for your interest in STSM and your commitment to our community!
