Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands
Our volunteer advocates assist survivors immediately after a a sexual assault in the Tuomey Hospital ER. Advocates provide information about medical and law enforcement processes, emotional support to the survivor and their friends/family members, and crisis intervention to help reduce the trauma a survivor experiences from an attempted or completed sexual assault.
Advocates that serve Sumter County accompany survivors to Tuomey Hospital in Sumter. They complete training in Columbia or Sumter, and are called on an as-needed basis rather than having a regular schedule.
THERE IS AN APPLICATION PROCESS. Please contact Sarah Ingraham at sarahi@stsm.org to apply, or if you have any questions!
Thank you for your interest in STSM and your commitment to our community!
