The Great Chesapeake Bay Swim is an open-water swim that benefits the March of Dimes, The Chesapeake Bay Foundation as well as a number of other foundations. We need volunteers at Sandy Point Beach on Sunday morning, June 10th, from about 7:30 am until about 2:00 pm (exact times to be determined based on the current and the weather conditions). As a volunteer, you’ll be setting up, registering swimmers, body marking, helping swimmers bag their belongings and loading the truck. Once all the swimmers are in the water and the truck is loaded (around 2pm), you can either leave or join us on the other side of the Bay as we welcome the swimmers back and reconnect them with their swim bags.
Exact start and finish times will depend on the current and the weather conditions.
This is a wonderful opportunity to see elite swimmers of all ages!

Mission Statement
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve infant health by preventing premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality.
Description
We imagine a world in which every baby has the opportunity to thrive, live the future they choose, and grow up to change the world.
The March of Dimes works to improve the health of all babies by preventing premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality. We work towards this goal through programs of research, education, advocacy and community grants. We fund programs to find reasons why babies are born too soon, to improve birth outcomes for those born too soon or too ill, and those with birth defects. We advocate for better health care for infant and maternal health, fund local community grants to provide better and better access to prenatal care. We provide education to doctors and nurses to make sure they have the most up-to-date information on infant and maternal health care. The March of Dimes is all about babies.
