Support Early Childhood Education as a Classroom Assistant - Schaumburg

Early Childhood Care Education is one of Children’s Home Aid’s largest programs. The agency’s Early Childhood Centers provide childcare, education, health services and meals to children aged six weeks to six years old from approximately 7:00am to 5:30pm each day. The Centers provide priority enrollment to children considered at-risk, including children of adolescent parents, victims of child abuse and/or neglect, and children from very low-income households

You can help enhance the children's educational services by providing support and assistance to the classroom teachers in our Marletta Darnall Schaumburg Child Family Center. Position duties can include assisting in welcoming children to the center, assisting in daily classroom tasks, reading stories, actively engaging children in learning conversations,helping with art projects and feeding, rocking and reading stories to the infants. Volunteers are particularly needed between 8:30am and 1pm.

The early years of a child’s life set the stage for a lifetime of learning. All healthy children are born with the capacity to learn. However, beginning at about 3 years of age, children from high-risk environments (defined by poverty, young parental age, single parents, and low maternal education) begin to show significant deficits. If these deficits are not addressed, the majority of these at-risk children will face a lifetime of obstacles. By helping provide early intervention and education, you help achieve the work of Children's Home Aid: To save children's lives, move families foward, and go where the need is greatest.
