Homestead Museum
La Casa Nueva, a 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival Mansion, built by Walter P. Temple, William Workman's grandson and founder of Temple City. One of two houses toured by visitors at the Homestead Museum.

The Homestead Museum is looking for individuals to help with select special events. Become a Community Service Volunteer where you can meet new people, learn new skills, help your community, and get volunteer hours for your school or club. No experience is necessary and training is free! Eligible candidates must attend a one hour event training session and both days of our two-day festival in exchange for ten hours of volunteer service. Please contact the museum for more information.

Mission Statement

The Workman and Temple Family Homestead Museum creates advocates of history through the stories of greater Los Angeles.

Description

The Homestead Museum features the Workman House, a Victorian-era country house constructed around an 1840s adobe; La Casa Nueva, a 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival Mansion noted for its architectural crafts; and El Campo Santo, one of the oldest private cemeteries in the region. Tours of the houses are guided, while tours of El Campo Santo are self-guided.

Free, guided tours are offered Wednesdays through Sundays, at 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. Tours of the Workman House are given at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. and La Casa Nueva tours are scheduled for 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Spanish only tours are given the second Sunday of each month at 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Group tours for 10 or more people are available seven days a week by appointment. Visitors with special needs can be accommodated with at least 72 hours notice. Please check out our website at www.homesteadmuseum.org for more information about our event schedule.
