Sarah's Hope Shelters utilize the talents of employment support volunteers to offer one-on-one assistance to adult women clients with employment-related activities like completing applications, creating resumes and cover letters, and interviewing skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Work one-on-one or with small groups of residents on employment-related skills
- Arrive for sessions on time and prepared to provide instruction to clients
- Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to obtain necessary instruction materials
- Prepare lessons and assign "homework" as necessary
- Treat all participants and their opinions with respect, and keep all information given by participants confidential
- Complete a client attendance sheet and log after seeing each client
- Inform the Volunteer Coordinator or staff if participants are late, disruptive, or absent
- Sign in and out for the volunteer shift
Qualifications
- Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age, and be either currently employed or have previous professional experience
- Volunteers must complete an application and background check as well as attend an orientation prior to starting service
- Preferred: applicants with experience in teaching, psychology, nursing, child care, or working with low income populations, but we will consider all those willing to learn
Time Commitment
- Commit to a weekly or biweekly shift
- Flexible days and times

Description
Since 1865, St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore has been helping our community move beyond hunger, homelessness, unemployment and childhood poverty. We serve the gretaer Baltimore area and our programs include:
- Sarah's Hope: two emergency shelters serving homeless families in Baltimore Cith and County
- Beans & Bread: a homeless day resource center that provides meals, access to housing, employment services, case management, healthcare and other supportive services
- Front Door: a repaid re-housing and shelter diversion program for homeless individuals and families in Baltimore City and County
- Head Start: pre-school program preparing 3 and 4 year olds for Kindergarten and life
- Workforce Development Services: including our Next Course food service training program and 2 Career Connections drop-in employment services centers
- Camp St. Vincnet: a full-day, 8 week summer camp for homeless children ages 5-14 in Baltimore City and County
- Frederick Ozanam House: recovery-based transitional housing program for men in Baltimore City
- Home Connections: permanenet supportive housing for program for chronicall homeless adults
- Cottage Avenue Community: transitional housing for homeless families in Baltimore City
