EKAD has been working with sea turtles for over 25 years, and we would like to welcome new volunteers at our camps in Belek and Kızılot (Antalya, Turkiye). Belek is one of the two largest sea turtle nesting sites in the entire Mediterranean, with annual nest numbers around 3000, while Kızılot is another promising nesting beach.
Volunteers help us with scientific field studies and educational activities, aimed at raising awareness among tourists, local people, and of course, the touristic facilities in the region. Belek is a popular tourism destination in Antalya, Turkiye, and EKAD has been building an example of how tourism facilities and locals can be encouraged to actively take part in nature conservation studies.
Every single person we educate and every single hatchling we help counts, and that is why we need the valuable contribution of volunteers.
Volunteers stay in a secure and well-established camp site, offering different accommodation options such as air-conditioned rooms and/or tents. The camp is equipped with a large kitchen and all necessary utensils, showers with hot water, a washing machine, and wi-fi. No previous experience is required, as everyone receives extensive theoretical and applied trainings.

Mission Statement
We understand the importance of nature conservation studies as our Earth drastically ages. Our individual duty in order to accelerate this understanding and to take the small steps necessary for the bigger steps to be achieved is to tell, teach and disseminate the ecological consciousness. We, as EKAD, are an example in terms of showing why the components of nature should be protected and how conservation studies should be carried out in a scientific way.
Description
EKAD was established in 2003 by academicians, most of whom are experts in biodiversity and nature conservation. Since its establishment, EKAD has been in a harmonious cooperation with universities, ministries, municipalities, other NGO’s, and private enterprises. To this day, we continue our mission by increasing and expanding our activities with the contributions of national and international volunteers joining our studies.
EKAD has carried out a number of nature conservation projects, including those focused on flora and fauna, environment education, and plastics. We have conducted sea turtle monitoring studies in almost all nesting sites in Turkiye, and have been working in Belek continously for over 20 years (even before EKAD was established).
