The Youth Tutoring Program is hosting a fantastic summer academic enrichment program for elementary and middle school students living in Seattle Housing Authority neighborhoods. Our students come from diverse backgrounds--representing many nationalities, cultures, languages and religions.
Most kids lose at least three months of academic progress over the summer, and it’s our goal to keep that from happening with our students. Help us achieve our goal by volunteering with YTP just once a week for six weeks, from July 10 th-August 17 th.
We are recruiting Summer Program Volunteers for afternoon and early evening volunteer positions at 4 of our tutoring centers this summer. These centers are open Monday through Thursday, with a few exceptions:
High Point (West Seattle) - 1:00-2:30 and 2:45-4:15
Jackson Park (Lake City) - 2:00-3:30 and 3:30-5:00
Rainier Vista (Colombia City) - 3:00-4:30 and 4:30-6:00
Lake Washington Apartments (Rainier Beach) - 3:00-4:30 and 4:30-6:00
Summer tutors help facilitate small groups in reading, math games, and on Tuesdays/Thursdays, science enrichment activities (learn more here: http://www.calacademy.org/science-action-club-sac)
Our ideal tutor is:
Excited about learning
Flexible
Great with kids
All about fun!
Volunteers are requested to help 1.5 hours per week, and be at least 14 years of age. Learn how you can volunteer with YTP by going to http://www.ccsww.org/ytp.

Since 1991, we’ve been successful in motivating our kids to thrive in school, and encouraging them to succeed in pursuing their life’s goals and dreams. Join us, and do something awesome for others this summer.
What volunteers say they like most about YTP:
"Getting to know my students, trying new ways to teach things, and getting a thrill when I see my students really have learned something."
