Your Time, Their Future

You can make a huge difference in the life of a teenager who is on probation just by spending time with them doing the things that you like to do. FLY Mentors build positive relationships with their mentees, all the while helping them to develop new ambitions, set and achieve goals, and learn to have fun in a positive, sober way. Mentors work closely with and are supported by professional case managers to help youth get off probation, engaged in school, and back on track with their lives.

What Mentors Do:

  • Individual activities are up to you and your mentee! You could talk over coffee, go for a hike, play soccer, help apply for jobs, share a meal, etc.
  • Participate in monthly group activities. FLY arranges activities for matches such as horseback riding, whitewater rafting, go-kart racing, bowling, BBQs and laser tag.

About FLY- Fresh Lifelines for Youth

Location:

568 Valley Way, Milpitas, CA 95035, US

Mission Statement

FLY’s mission is to prevent juvenile crime and incarceration through legal education, mentoring, and leadership training. Working with juvenile justice youth and those 'at-risk’ of entering the system, FLY’s programs inspire and empower youth to alter the trajectory of their lives by helping them identify and build their strengths, become more responsible, and change delinquent behavior.

FLY’s vision is that our most marginalized and underserved youth will gain the life skills and character needed to avoid the criminal justice system and transform from delinquent youth into positive community leaders.

Description

The Fresh Lifelines for Youth ("FLY") Mentor Program links juvenile offenders with trained caring and committed adults who will work with the youths one-on-one to support their development of new behaviors, attitudes, and ambitions. Mentors will guide with ideas; show by their lifestyles; and support with consistency to help the youths increase their self-esteem, communication skills, and ability to set and achieve their highest goals.
