Do you sew? Would you like to provide comfort and support to families whose loved ones have died?
Through Memory Bears, Hospice of NGMC volunteers provide something special for the loved ones of a hospice patient who has died.
After a hospice patient dies, family will be given the opportunity to have a memory bear made out of their loved one's garments. Hospice volunteers that are experienced in sewing take the garments and transform them into memorable teddy bears.
The bears are then presented back to the family. The fabric of the bear holds cherished memories for the family and they find it comforting to touch and hold something reminiscent of their loved one.
Your valuable skill may provide tremendous peace and comfort to a grieving family.

Mission Statement
Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) is committed to improving and supporting quality of life in all that we do.
Description
Hospice care began in the 1960’s as a volunteer movement, and volunteerism continues to be the foundation of modern-day hospice. Hospice volunteers are a part of every aspect of a hospice program.
Our volunteers have served families in Northeast Georgia for 30 years. The volunteer role is one of the most tender and significant parts of our program. Our volunteers help run our office, do community outreach and keep vigil at the bedside of our patients. Some utilize their own unique skill-sets to provide very specialized volunteer services. Volunteers are the heartbeat of our program.
We welcome volunteers from all walks of life, and anyone age 18 years or older may apply. We are committed to find a place for you in our program and to make your volunteer experience successful.
