Spring has sprung, love is in the air and kittens are being born! We are receiving dozens of litters of kittens here at NHS every single day. Most of the kittens are too young to be put up for adoption. Thus, we need volunteer foster parents who are willing to open their hearts and their homes to these kittens, our most vulnerable and at need animals in the sheltering world.
Being a kitten foster parent can be incredibly rewarding. Watching your kittens grow up, play and thrive is always a fantastic feeling. Plus, foster parents get first "dibs" on their pick of the litter if you are ever interested in adopting one of your foster pets.
Nevada Humane Society will supply all necessary materials (food, litter, carrier, etc.) and medical care for your animals as long as they are under your temporary care as fosters. We also offer an emergency line for those after-hours crises. We will train every foster parent individually, so no experience is necessary - just a big heart! If you open up your spare bathroom/bedroom for a few nights or a few weeks, we will find them homes for life.
To get started, please call us at 775-856-2000 x 314 or email us at foster@nevadahumanesociety.org.
Felines not your thing? We occasionally need volunteer foster parents for puppies, older dogs, and bunnies/mice/other small animals!

Mission Statement
Nevada Humane Society has been bringing people and animals together since 1932. Today, we have set our sets on creating a true safety net for the animals. Our goal is to provide an adoption guarantee - a good life in a good home - for every homeless dog and cat in our community who can be saved, making Washoe County a no-kill community.
Description
Nevada Humane Society is saving more animals than ever before, with the help and support of the community. This is accomplished through quality animal care, innovative adoption programs, accessible low-cost spay/neuter services, and the free Animal Help Desk. The non-profit organization is dependent upon donations and does not receive funds from government agencies or national animal welfare groups.
