ORGANIZATION: The Carying Place

We are looking for a dedicated volunteer to lead a weekly Children's Program on Thursday evenings from 7-9pm. The volunteer must have experience working with children, and be at least 18 years old. Thursday program has a weekly agenda with a range of enrichment and pyscho-educational activities. The volunteer leader will have assistance from other children's program volunteers and the children's program coordinator. The age range of the children is 5-10 years old. To provide transitional housing and support services to working families with children who are experiencing homelessness.

Description

The Carying Place (TCP) provides a 4-month transitional housing program for working families with children who are experiencing homelessness. The program aims to promote "self-sufficiency" by helping families overcome homelessness through budgeting, goal setting, case management and encouragement to take control of their lives and their situation. Our children's program strives to decrease the negative effects of homelessness and trauma on children through empowerment, psycho-education, enrichment activites and case management.
