Catholic Charities provides permanent placement, on-site care, and case management to formerly homeless adults impacted by chronic illness. Friendly and caring Medical Escort volunteers are sought to accompany residents to important daytime medical appointments. Residents may need assistance navigating the route and location of their appointment. Volunteers will provide door-through-door assistance and wait for the resident for the duration of the appointment, typically two hours, but will not be involved in the actual medical appointment itself. This role provides volunteers with a great opportunity to engage with clients one-on-one and work directly with Case Managers. Please note that volunteers will not be required to drive their own vehicles and public transportation and taxis are used for transportation. A thorough formal training will be conducted for all volunteers.
Qualifications:
* Willingness to work with adults impacted by chronic illness
* Sensitive to the population served
* Friendly and Reliable
Time Commitment: Volunteers will work closely with case managers and may choose appointments according to their availability.
Shift: Varies depending on client appointments; usually Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Thanks to the help of volunteers and staff in 2017 we served almost 35,000 clients. 3,024 clients were served by Homelessness and Housing Services. Almost 5,000 refugee and immigrant consultations were provided and 2,332 seniors were served. In addition 25,459 youth were served in San Francisco, Marin and San Mateo.
