Regular volunteers work a weekly 2 or 3 hour shift, substitute volunteers fill in for the regular volunteer when they are unavailable. The work entails accepting donations, pricing books for the store shelves, operating a simple cash register or debit/credit transaction devise for sales but mostly being at the bookstore with the store doors open for customers. Training sessions will be scheduled at your convenience. The Friends Bookstore is a fun and easy place to work/volunteer, especially if you love books. 99.9% of the revenue we receive go towards (a) LA County Libraries to fund activities not otherwise afforded by county budget (b) classrooms and school libraries (c) collage scholarships to four graduating seniors. We have face masks and hand sanitizer available for anyone wishing to use them and follow local, state and federal COVID guidelines for safety to our volunteers, customers and library patrons.

Friends Bookstore hours are Monday through Thursday 10 am to 6 pm, Friday and Saturday 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday 1-4 pm as long as we have volunteers available. Hope to hear from you. Thanks.
