During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of both COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Docents at the Adriana Hess Audubon Center greet park and center visitors five days a week, Monday through Friday, from 10am to 1pm. They answer phones, greet guests, handle mailings, sell goods in our small nature shop, and answer bird-related questions, call to welcome new members, and are an essential to running the Audubon Center and providing open hours for visitors.
Docents work both independentally and alongside staff and committees to support the mission of Tahoma Audubon.
Docents sometimes also help outdoors with restoration, planting and weeding projects and volunteer work parties in the park.
We currently have limited shifts available and are primarily looking for people to work 1-2x/month and as substitutes.

The Tahoma Audubon Society connects people with birds, other wildlife, and their habitats through conservation, education and recreation.
We strive to involve youth, families, and seniors in the discovery and protection of native habitat throughout Pierce County. We develop and offer year-round, family-based, nature education programming at the Tacoma Nature Center (Tacoma, WA), the Adriana Hess Audubon Center (University Place, WA), and at the Morse Wildlife Preserve (Graham, WA).We organize and lead field trips throughout Puget Sound and the State. We also work to affect public policy at the city, county and state level to achieve our conservation goals.
We'll work with your schedule.
