conversation partners

Many newcomers to the Amherst community from overseas are already proficient in English, but they feel self-conscious about interacting with native speakers. A conversation partner can help by offering a "safe" occasion to practice, and help with idioms and "sounding more natural" (less like a textbook). Conversation partners also share information on US culture, local opportunities, and how to navigate various institutions that are part of daily life in the US.
