Looking to volunteer in your community?
San Mateo's County Fair is one of the largest events in the county!
This is a fun way to get community service hours, site see, and get involved in some summer time fun.
Flexible hours and a variety of areas of need for volunteers allows for volunteers to get the hours they need, and be a big help to our Fair staff to create a fun-filled experience for our fair-goers.
- Volunteers working in Daily Contests
Assists the Fair Coordinator in setting up and tearing down the Fair's Daily Contests.
Acts as an encourager for those participating in contests
-Fun Run Volunteers
Assists with putting on a mile long children's "Fun Run" around our Fairgrounds.
Stationed at water stations to hand out water
Helps with checking in guests/runners
Be sure to say 'hello’ to all the entering patrons!
- Parking Volunteers volunteers are greatly needed for this program.
Waving guests to the correct parking area
Pointing guests in a welcoming manner to the direction of entrance to the Fair
Making sure guests do not park in the wrong area
aid department coordinators in building set-up and tear-down.
- Family Game Zone
Monitor the Family Game Zone inside our Expo Hall
Making sure the area stays clean and presentable to guests after people use them
Making sure there is no foul-play or misusage of the games being played.
Setting up the games when people are done playing with them.
- School Tours
Giving tours of our fairgrounds to classes that have signed up for our School Tour Program.
Walking them to different areas of the Fair, and making sure there is no foul-play
Keeping track of time to ensure the classes see the areas of the Fair they have to see
Assisting coordinators in checking in classes
- Volunteers are compensated with two (2) Fair tickets and one (1) Parking Pass every shift they work, as well as getting to be signed off on their hours sheet by lead coordinator.

Description
The San Mateo County Event Center is located in San Mateo, California, conveniently located near the 92 and 101 freeways and 10 minutes south of the San Francisco International Airport. The San Mateo County Event Center hosts ocer 1 million patrons annually. The campus features a comprehensive variety of venues serving a diverse variety of year round events, which include: concerts, trade and consumer shows, festivals, corporate events, production launches and other unique events.
There is over 200,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space licated in seven buildings ranging from 5,000 to 105,000 sq. feet. Over 10 acres of beautifully landscaped outdoor grounds, provide for a campus like atmosphere.

- Typically works 4 hour shifts. Weekends: Open at 10:30AM, Close at 9:30 PM. Weekdays: 11:30 AM-9:30 PM. Some days such as School Tours (MON-THURS) begin at 8:30 AM. Fun Run (6/14) Begins at 7:30 AM. Daily Contests begin at 3:00 PM
