This is a volunteer position. We are an all volunteer organization - there are no paid salaries or consultant fees.

Function

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, assessing, organizing, and motivating volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Define volunteer needs and develop volunteer opportunity descriptions
• Develop, organize and maintain volunteer recruitment strategies (schools, online marketing, other means)
• Respond to volunteer inquiries in a timely and individualized manner
• Schedule orientation dates
• Contact potential volunteers by responding to emails and phones calls from individuals interested in volunteering with Alley Cats and Angels
• Interview prospective volunteers to see what they are interested in doing (adoption counseling, adoption center cleaner, fundraising, TNR help, etc.) and help to match their interests with available opportunities
• Maintain a database of all volunteers
• Organize volunteer events and opportunities
• Assess and improve volunteer program and processes
• Develop and implement (with board approval) volunteer appreciation and retention strategies and activities
• Inform volunteers consistently about upcoming events where volunteer participation will be needed throughout the year
• Troubleshoot problems as they arise in a calm professional manner

Qualifications / Requirements

• Excellent volunteer management, administration, communication and negotiation skills, and a passion for volunteering.
• Knowledgeable about Alley Cats and Angels’ mission and various programs (detailed information on our mission and various programs will be provided)
• Creative in maintaining morale and motivation of volunteers
