Yolo Food Bank’s Kids Farmers Market program addresses childhood food insecurity by providing low-income youth with consistent access to fresh produce through a fun, interactive farmers’ market-style distribution. This afterschool program gives students the opportunity to use play money to "purchase" an average of eight pounds of produce, sample featured produce items, and engage in interactive lessons on health and wellness.

Kids Farmers Markets would not run efficiently without community volunteers. Volunteers offer a variety of services, starting by unloading and organizing produce from the truck. Fellow students and community volunteers then serve as vendors who collect the play money, distribute produce, and share fun nutrition facts that promote the benefits of eating the available produce.

Waggoner Elementary runs a Tuesday market each week after school.
