Event Description:
- held annually in June
- honors six prominent older adults for lifetime achievement
- features reception, awards presentation, dinner, auctions and other donation opportunities
- raises awareness of the value of older adults to the community
- raises funds for the Heritage Place mission
- recruits friends and volunteers for Heritage Place
Planning Committee Duties: Coordinates all details including theme, venue, donation opportunities, sponsorships, printed materials and honorees. Meetings are held every 4-6 weeks. All first-time volunteers receive an orientation to the event. Time commitment is 1-2 hours/month, depending on duties selected.
Special Skils: None required. the successful volunteers will be:
- responsible
- energetic
- follows-through on commitment
- believes in the value of older adult education, companionship and lifetime learning

- recognizes that socially isolated seniors are at high risk for poor health and for poor physical, mental, emotional and social functioning
- a wide variety of educational classes, legal and financial information, health serivces, lifetime learning opportunities and social events
- largest Senior Companion Station in central Indiana with 35 companions who provide 20 hours of friendly visiting services each week to disable homebound older adults
- serves 1,500 older adults annually
- reated as an "Excellent" United Way of Central Indiana member agency
