Come Join The SandCastles Camp Team!
SandCastles, a grief support program for children, teens, and their families offered through Henry Ford Hospice, seeks volunteers for SandCastles Camp. SandCastles provides a supportive environment for children and teens, ages 3 to 18, and their families who have experienced the death of a loved one. Families come together for nurturing and strength as they journey through their world of grief. Volunteering for SandCastles Camp is a rewarding way to contribute your time and support for children in grades two through twelve if you are unable to make the one-year commitment. Camp is held one weekend a year with SandCastles Camp 2025 being held August 15th - 17th at Camp Tamarack in Ortonville, MI. Areas of need are facilitator, helper, check-in on Friday evening, and help with the Sunday picnic. Training is provided for those who wish to be group facilitators or helpers.

Mission Statement
SandCastles Grief Support Program provides a caring place for children, teens, and their families who have experienced a death. SandCastles offers quality community-based family grief services, which encourage peer support and are enhanced by educational outreach.
Description
SandCastles, a division of Henry Ford Hospice, is a grief support program that offers peer support for children and teens who have experienced a death. We provide a safe environment where children can share and be with someone who is going through the same thing that they are.
We at SandCastles believe that every child and teen deserves the opportunity to grieve in a supportive, nurturing environment. Grieving children and teens are offered a special place where they can interact with peers who have experienced similar losses, learn life-long coping skills and most importantly, begin a healthy healing process. Support groups for children and teens ages 3 to 18 and their parents/guardians are offered twice monthly, in the evening at the following locations: Rochester, St. Clair Shores, West Bloomfield, and Virtually over Zoom. Other services areas include: Detroit, Livonia, and Clinton Twp.
We also offer a SandCastles Community where families can participate in one-time special events, programming, and experiences both virtually and in-person. In addition to our year long program, SandCastles also offers an overnight three-day, two-night bereavement camp which is usually held once a year in August for children and teens in grades two through twelve.
