Adelante Familia provides comprehensive services for Spanish-speaking victims of domestic violence and their children; abuser intervention services for Spanish-speaking perpetrators; and education on the dynamics of domestic violence to service providers and community members.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide quality childcare services to children while their mothers are in discussion groups.
- Supervise structured and unstructured activities with children
- Other duties as assigned
Time Commitment
Volunteer must commit to one of the following schedules:
- 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month: 9:45-11:45AM
- 1st and 3rd Friday of each month: 5:45 - 7:45PM
- 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month: 5:45 - 7:45PM
Candidate Requirements
- Volunteers must be 16 years or older
- Ability to speak some Spanish required
- Enjoy working with children
- Minimum 4 month commitment
**Requires criminal background check & fingerprinting fees of $54.50. Fee can be reimbursed after 60 hours of service.**

Description
The House of Ruth Maryland was founded in May of 1977 by a coalition of women's organizations, religious groups, service providers, and elected officials to provide a safeohaven for victims of domestic violence and their children. In November of 1977, we opened Baltimore's first crisis shelter for these victims in a row house on North Calvert Street. Today the House of Ruth Maryland is recognized as one of the nation's most comprehensive domestic violence center and has a staff of more than ninety.
