Facilitate group meetings by providing caregivers with an opportunity to share stories, information and resources with each other in a confidential environment. Support Group Facilitators must be compassionate and extremely reliable.
Training provided to all those interested. Background check conducted as part of screening process.
Volunteers are needed throughout Western New York's eight county region! As of September 2018, our strongest needs are volunteers that live in the WNY counties that border ERIE County, or flexible volunteers who may be willing to drive to the seven counties that border ERIE County. Specifically, we need Support Group Facilitators in Jamestown, Batavia, Leroy, and Arcade.
Desired commitment is 3 to 5 hours per month.

Description
We provide programs and services to those with Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia and their families. The Western New York Chapter serves all eight counties of WNY including Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming. We provide care consultations, a 24-hour helpline (1.800.272.3900), safety services, early stage programs, and education programs for caregivers, healthcare professionals and the general public. The Alzheimer's Association is also the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer's research. Together, we are elevating research, public policy, and awareness to unprecedented levels in pursuit of better treatments, a cure of a way to prevent Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.
