Our mobil medical unit is set up by volunteers at appointed community locations for day-long clinics in the greater Los Angeles area. We need doctors, physician assistants and nurses to examine/treat patients and prescribe medicine. Dentists and dental assistants are needed to take exrays, tooth extractions and fillings. Optometrists are needed to give eye exams in our van equipped for optical care.
The poor and needy are very grateful for relief from tooth pain, medicine they cannot afford and free glasses for clearer vision and to be able to read!
There is a lot of work to do in preparation for the clinics for which we would be extremely grateful, such as, the cleaning and upkeep of the mobil medical unit, inside, outside and mechanically, plus the medical equipment. And office support, grant writing, fundraising, sewing curtains! Etc!

Mission Statement
Medical Mission Adventures' (MMA) mission is to provide free medical, dental and optical care with pharmaceutical to the unserved and underserved of the greater Los Angeles area, and to mobilize medical teams to locations hit with natural disasters. MMA was created out of a heart of compassion for the hurting, the helpless and the needy, locally and around the world, and continues today with that same passion to bring relief to those in need.
Description
Medical Mission Adventures was started about 25 years ago when the founder, Louie Rosado, a now-retired respiratory therapist, returned to work at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center from a medical team trip to Uganda. His co-workers wanted to volunteer using their medical skills, too, so he took them to Baja Mexico on three-day medical/dental team trips, a few times a year. While volunteering on a medical team helping people affected by Hurricane Katrina, Louie envisioned a medical mobile unit for such purposes as natural disasters. In approximately 2013, MMA became a state certified mobile clinic, obtained a school bus, which was renovated into a mobile medical unit, and served mainly in the South Bay area, as that was where the naval doctor was from who helped Louie with the process (emails and paperwork) to become a certified clinic. We have been holding clinics in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys, and want to have about 10 committed groups host a clinic once a year, with a core group of volunteers moving from clinic to clinic following the model in South Bay. Other volunteers will help as able and available. With the expansion into the SFV and SCV, the administrative work is mounting and with it the need for volunteers! We have goals we'd like to achieve with the help of volunteers, such as the expansion of social media and fundraising.
