RVFB Mission and Environment: Rainier Valley Food Banks mission is to provide healthy food to our hungry neighbors. RVFB is committed to creating an environment for food guests, volunteers and staff which is racist free, hospitable, just, fair, & equitable. With only three employees, our food bank could not operate without a cadre of committed, long-term community volunteers who contribute over 2,000 hours of service every month.

Goal of the position: Aid RVFB in distributing healthy food to our hungry neighbors by welcoming guests as they arrive and facilitating them through our line process in a fair, equitable and racist free manner.

Time Required:
Hours: Minimum 6.5 hours, 1 x a month on Wednesday or Saturday, 8am to 2:30pm
Commitment Length: 3 shifts within 3 month period preferred
Positions Available: 5

Skills Needed:
Shared interest in RVFB mission and environment
Conflict management, non-violent communication or other equivalent training
Previous experience working with diverse populations
Customer service aptitude
Charismatic and sense of humor
Ability to maintain composure, equanimity and professionalism in highly dynamic and a sometimes trying atmosphere
Ability to stand ground with compassion and consideration of compelling circumstances

Training Provided:
An orientation and "trial run" will be provided with RVFB staff aiding you through your first Line Host experience. Ongoing support and collaboration.

Application Process:
Applicants are required to attend one orientation, held every Tuesday at 5pm. All applicants must fill out an application & are subject to criminal background check.
