The goal at a Zero Waste event is to plan ahead to limit the amount of waste produced, by maximizing reusable products and only distributing materials that are locally recyclable or compostable (minimal to no materials that have to be land filled).
During the event*, volunteers will be stationed at the three-bin Zero Waste stations to educate patrons and assist them in sorting waste into the correct receptacles for compost, recyclables, or trash. Most importantly we want you to HAVE FUN! Most shifts are 2hrs in duration, so you still have time usually to enjoy the actual festival. We provide the gloves (for any "ick" factor) and short training on-site the day of the event.
*These events are scheduled on specific weekends throughout the year and mainly during the spring and summer months (April-Sept). If you contact us during an "off-month" we will add you to our volunteer email list for future recruitment.
Unfortunately, we can not tailor this volunteer event to your schedule. However, if you have a flexible weekend (and sometimes evening) schedule and like being involved with your local community, this opportunity is for you!
