Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) is a statewide nonprofit organization that serves its nonprofit members to advance their missions. MNA's vision is that Michigan's nonprofit sector be a vital leader in building and sustaining thriving communities, and MNA believes that active, engaged volunteers are imperative. MNA's Civic Engagement team made up of The LEAGUE Michigan, Michigan Campus Compact, and Volunteer Centers of Michigan expands efforts to reach across all areas of lifelong engagement through the organization.

The Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) Civic Engagement (CE) AmeriCorps VISTA Program is a cohort of 28 VISTAs (Volunteers In Service To America) who serve throughout the state of Michigan in a national service role and focus on eliminating poverty within the areas of education and economic opportunity. The MNA CE VISTA Program is seeking to fill positions to serve on a full-time basis for one year, from August 2016 to August 2017.

Members will serve in one or more of the following five capacities:

  1. Engage in activities intended to improve learning and success in low-achieving schools.
  2. Engage in high quality service and service-learning projects in low-achieving schools.
  3. Engage in counseling, academic, enrollment, and retention support activities for economically disadvantaged students.
  4. Engage in activities that provide, support and/or facilitate access to resources and services that improve financial literacy, stability and security.
  5. Engage in activities that provide, support and/or facilitate access to workforce development resources and services intended to improve employability and, ultimately, lead to employment.
