Summary:
This is a very social position which includes greeting and assisting attendees, volunteers, and visitors with check in, directions, questions, and class registration and payments in person and on the phone, as well as assisting staff with office projects. Volunteers will enjoy training, utilizing the computer, working with other volunteers, and can also become Volunteer Mentors for this position.

You are an important part of the Center. The Ballard NW Senior Center serves over 4,000 people a year with only 5 staff members. We are open Monday through Friday with additional special weekend events. Our programs focus on improving social, emotional, and physical well-being for individuals 50 years and older. Your work as a 2 nd Floor Receptionist directly affects how people interact with and enjoy our services and activities, as you as often the first person they meet.
Position Description:
You check in at the 1 st Floor Reception Desk, contact staff member Kristina to go over any new information about the shift, and prepare your station. Throughout your shift you will receive training as needed, as well as feedback on your progress, and you are encouraged to ask questions. At the end of your shift you will tidy your station, speak with Kristina, or the next 2 nd Floor Receptionist to confirm your next shift, and check out.

Description
NorthWest Senior Center was formed in 1973 and in 1975 became a community partner of Sound Generations (at the time Senior Services of Seattle / King County) and has been serving Ballard, Queen Anne, and Magnolia seniors without interuption since then. We offer a daily nutritional lunch program, health care services, assistance and counciling, social work and support groups, exercise opportunities, field trips, and a myriad of classes and special interest clubs and groups. Our 5 person staff is assisted by more than 500 volunteers a year as we serve the needs of over 4,000 individuals each year. Numerous volunteer opportunities are available friendly, handworking, and dedicated people.
