Docents are volunteers trained to interact with guests of all ages as educational interpreters. Docents may opt to handle a selection of live animals and animal artifacts, accompany naturalists on outreach programs, mentor trainees, provide educational talks, volunteer at instructional tables at off site events, and more! Opportunities for docents are year round, but most often between May 1 and November 1. Docents must be 18 years or older. No experience is necessary. A one-time fee of $50 includes a shirt and materials. The 2019 training is June 17 through 21 from 4 to 8 p.m.
