Board Member Qualifications:

The primary qualification for a seat on the Board of Directors is a passion for our mission. Prospective members with skills and knowledge to address our strategic priorities of fundraising, marketing, PR/communication, and governance are welcome.

As a Board Member I will:

Be an ambassador and represent Sixth Day Dance values within the larger community and within business/professional circles. I as a member of the board bear the responsibility of governance of the not-for-profit corporation. As a board member, I make a significant commitment of resources (time, money, expertise, community contacts, organizational skills or leadership talents) to advance the mission and goals of Sixthday Dance. I recognize that as a Board member I will be accountable for the financial stability and financial future of Sixth Day Dance. This means that I know Sixthday's mission, purposes, goals, policies, programs, strengths and weaknesses.

Additionally, I will:

• Join in discussions and vote

• Understand the budget process

• Attend Board meetings in person or via conference call

• Evaluate the organization and the Board

• Review the performance of the Directors

• Lead, support and participate in fundraising projects

• Represent and promote the organization in the community

• Assist Sixthday Dance through personal commitment and contacts

• Take part in Board development and training activities

• Be willing to raise funds on behalf of Sixthday Dance

• Be able to give 3-5 hours of your time per month to Sixth Day Dance

• Contribute $100 per year to support insurance for Board Directors and Officers

• Participation of 75% in Sixthday Dance activities, while fulfilling primary responsibilities to the Board

• Accountability for self and other Board members to give feedback with action to prevent the negative pattern of complaining with no solution

• Fulfill job duties and descriptions, including chairing a committee appointed by President
