Volunteers can tutor students in English as a Second Language, GED preparation, or Adult Basic Education. We have sites all over the county, but we have an urgent need in the Cedar Park and Leander locations. Day and night classes are available. No experience is necessary.

Description
The Literacy Council of Williamson County (LCWC) is a nonprofit organization serving adults in Williamson County and parts of northern Travis County. We are dedicated to improving the literacy skills of adults and to helping high school dropouts earn a GED.
Services offered ESL(English as a Second Language) - English language tutoring for non-native English speakers. Adult Basic Literacy: Reading instruction for adults who speak English, but are reading below sixth grade GED:tutoring in the five academic subject tests of this high school equivalent certificate. Who is eligible for services? Adults at least 17 years old and not enrolled in school* Adults demonstrating low literacy skills and/or lacking a high school diploma. Adults in Williamson County and parts of N/NW Travis County.* 17-year-olds must provide school withdrawal papers and parent/guardian signature on registration form.
Fees for Services GED clients pay a one-time $20 program fee for services. ESL clients pay $20 for each 10-week session course. Basic literacy clients pay $20 annually for tutoring.CAUSE AREAS
