Typical ICO Outing

Boulder Valley ICO is an all-volunteer outreach program of the Sierra Club that takes children from low-income families in Boulder County and Denver on free nature outings. We are presently welcoming new volunteers into our program.

We will pay up to $185 every two years for volunteers who have made this committment to get and maintain basic first aid certification, wilderness first aid certification, or wilderness first responder certfication.

To see videos of some of our outings types, please visit our YouTube channel:

Our goal is to provide wilderness and nature experiences for children who would not have these opportunities any other way.

To see a list of our upcoming outings, please visit our website: If you have questions, please contact Michael at To get started as a volunteer, please visit the volunteer page of our website and follow the instructions to "Quick Join" the program.

Once you have created your account on our website, you can sign up for outings. Note that we often do not begin processing a volunteer application until we see that you have signed up for an outing or two.
