Visitor Center Hosts work in the interpretive building. Sitting at the front desk or staying close to the front door and phone, they are the hospitality experts who go out of their way to make each person who visits Oxley Nature Center feel welcome.
They greet visitors, hand out trail maps, suggest hiking routes if asked, answer the phone, keep a visitor tally, and handle "The Nature Store" sales. Most of the training is on-the-job. The first time you work you will be teamed up with a veteran.
Other miscellaneous work may be preformed, such as gardening, identifying a beetle, birdwatching, counting butterflies, perusing field guides, interpreting skulls with children, or a project tailored to your own skills!

Description
Located in Mohawk Park north of the Tulsa Airport, the staff of Oxley Nature Center manages 804 acres of prime wildlife habitat. Nine miles of trails take visitors through forest, fields, and wetlands. A second site in Rogers County, Redbud Valley Nature Preserve, adds another 200+ acres and 2 more miles of trails. Most of the staff members are volunteers.
Note: Oxley Nature Center's mailing address is P.O. Box 150209, Tulsa OK 74115. Use 6700 Mohawk Boulevard as the street address. If you are using this website's Google map, look west of the intersection of Mohawk Boulevard and Memorial Drive. About a mile west of Memorial Dr., there is a short spur of road going southeast from Mohawk Blvd. That spur ends in the parking lot for Oxley Nature Center. There are four closed gates that will prevent a vehicle from reaching that parking lot via the Memorial Drive route. Come in from the west, past Mohawk Park's golf course.
