About CommUnity Zone/CARE
Location:
417 Market Street, LEWISBURG, PA 17837, US
Mission Statement
CommUnity Zone/CARE is about people. We are a community that believes in the power of volunteering to enrich our lives and the world around us. We believe that in order to be strong, a community must be constantly evolving, increasingly active and evermore diverse. Relationships CommUnity Zone is about relationships. We are a service that brings good people and good causes together. We believe that the health of our community can be measured by the relationships formed between volunteers and the non-profits they serve. Our aim is to build services that overcome the barriers that keep volunteers and non-profits from finding each other, working together, and developing strong relationships. Partnerships CommUnity Zone is about cooperation.
Description
CommUnity Zone/CARE is an information center where people of all ages can learn about these organizations and explore community building opportunities. For example, they can explore volunteer opportunities with the help of VOICE’s website, find out about local events through the Yo! Community blog, purchase coffee from the Bucknell Brigade, learn about the Lewisburg Community Garden, access the new 211 referral system, enjoy displays by local artists, or sign up for Learning Line, a new telephone/computer based educational program. We will also host lunch time discussions where people can bring their lunch and meet and talk with others with similar interests.
Partnering organizations will be much more likely to collaborate due to proximity and the common goal of maintaining a functional exciting space. Partners and staff will be conversant with each others’ programs and will facilitate direct contacts with each other when appropriate. We also are committed to creating a welcoming space where people of all ages can talk together about what matters most to them, work together on projects, and hopefully find that we are not defined by our age.
We invite you to become part of this effort by stopping in for look, volunteering on a project, leading or participating in a lunch time discussion, or making a tax deductible donation to the partnership or to the non-profit organization of your choice. Yo! Community is a completely volunteer group with no budget that would especially benefit from a donation on their behalf.
Information on each organization, events, volunteer opportunities, successes, challenges, and monthly financial statements will be available on our upcoming website and blog.
