It takes a lot to produce a safe Lustgarten Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk. Simply stated, volunteers make it happen and ensure a safe and successful event for all of our participants! Volunteers are needed to help out in the following areas: checking in walkers, distributing refreshments, working at rest stops, assisting along the route and cheering walkers across the finish line.
Register to volunteer today at: https://events.lustgarten.org/event/2019-howard-county-pancreatic-cancer-research-walk/e218882 then click Volunteer.
Please let us know if you are interested in obtaining a walk poster(s) to hang at your place of employment or another location.

Pancreatic cancer is swift and silent, often undetected until it’s too late. It is estimated that more than 56,000 individuals will be diagnosed with the disease and 44,000 will pass away this year. The overall five-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer is just nine percent and most with advanced cancer die within a year. There are no early detection tests, no effective long-term treatments and, unless the cancer is surgically removed in its earliest stages, there is no cure. It is the fourth-leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States.
About the Lustgarten Foundation
The Lustgarten Foundation is America’s largest private funder of pancreatic cancer research. Based in Woodbury, New York, the Foundation supports research to find a cure for pancreatic cancer, facilitates dialogue within the medical and scientific community, and educates the public about the disease through awareness campaigns and fundraising events. Since its inception, the Foundation has directed $165 million to research and assembled the best scientific minds with the hope that one day, a cure can be found.
