The NAMI Greater Boston Consumer Advocacy Network, www.namigbcan.org is a peer-run organization helping people advance in their recovery from mental health and/or addictions. The public policy associate will help NAMI GB CAN www.namigbcan.org advocate for policies and laws which improve the quality of life for people with mental health and/or addictions. The associate will be be helping to organize existing advocates and recruit new advocates and teaching them how to do individual and systemic advocacy.
The associate will also analyze state and Federal legislation and report back to our staff and members.
We will participate in various lobby days at the State House, preparing people to meet with legislators and in emailing, calling or writing public officials. We also will be partnering with allied organizations. You will be working closely co-founder Howard D. Trachtman, BS, CPS, CPRP a nationally recognized mental health advocate. NAMI GB CAN also helps staff the Hope Center www.hoperlc.org and is a partner of the Metro Boston Recovery Learning Community www.metrobostonrlc.org Some work can be done outside of the office.
