The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. Seeking Volunteer Staff for Winter Shelter Located on North Pleasant Street in downtown Middlebury, the Charter House offers safe, warm accommodations for families and individuals in need of transitional housing throughout the winter months. Last winter, 18 people were housed, including 8 children. Volunteers are needed to serve as daytime or overnight hosts who manage the building, provide resources to residents and support the families and children. New volunteers receive full training and are always paired with experienced volunteers, working 3 or 4 hour shifts, at times of their choosing.
