Homeless Resource Day is a "one-day, one stop" opportunity for more than 450 homeless guests to receive an array of needed services. Many of our community partners will be at this event to provide services for our "guests".
Volunteers are needed as:
Guides, Runners, Parking, Registration Table, Lunch Server, and more.
Guides: Support the clients from entrance to exit ( this may take longer than 4 hours). This requires the most help. Guides are very important because they need to make sure that the client has taken advantage of the all the available services.
Training is required. There will be (2) sites offered for training (Annapolis and Glen Burnie) OR online training video.
**Volunteer minimum age is (16) for set up and break down of event. Can participate for the full day event if accompanied by and adult over 21 years of age.

Mission Statement
The Anne Arundel County Department of Social Sevices will assist County residents to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency; provide services to strengthen individuals and families; and join our community partners in the protection of vulnerable children and adults.
Description
Our government agency assists people in need by administering a wide range of public assistance programs. Primarily, we help low-income people as well as families and children in crises.
We help low-income county residents access food stamps, medical assistance and temporary cash assistance. And, we help them pay their heating bills when they lack the income to pay it themselves. We also collect and distribute child support payments.
In addition, we investigate allegations of child/adult abuse and neglect. Too often, the silent victims of family violence and volatile family dynamics are children. When necessary, we remove children from their families - either temporarily or for the long term - when the children are not being properly cared for by their families.
The Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services is the local office of the Maryland Department of Human Resources (DHR).
