The program facilitator for a Sages & Seekers eight-week intergenerational program is responsible for conducting eight classes, once a week (usually consecutive weeks) in a local High School. The classes run between 60 and 80 minutes during the usual class period in the high school, or as an after school community service program. Participants run from 10-15 students and 10-15 Seniors per program. The facilitator will receive training, as well as a manual to follow for every weekly class. In addition to facilitating the 8 classes, the volunteer is also responsible for taking digital photos each week, printing the student essays (received by email) during the 6 th week, compiling the Sage "Chronicles" for the presentation, purchasing the roses for the presentation, and organizing the final presentation. There will be printing and mailing involved: welcome letters and periodic flyers. All supplies, including roses, will be paid for by Sages & Seekers.
You must have access to transportation, a computer, a printer, and a digital camera. You must also have an outgoing personality, and be comfortable leading and speaking in front of groups. An interest in the elderly and teens is imperative.
Programs last 8 weeks and run in the Fall and Spring. Time estimate to facilitate each 8-week program is approximately 2-3 hours per week, with the exception of the 6th week when compiling the Chronicles will require approximately 3-4 extra hours. This does not include travel time.
This is a profoundly meaningful and rewarding opportunity if you enjoy elders, teens and leading group activities. Small stipend offered.
