Answering the Call to Vigil: Our Most Rewarding Opportunity to Serve
Heartland Hospice Services
HEARTLAND HOSPICE Vigil Volunteers
Our most rewarding volunteer experience.
Since ancient times, it has been a compassionate practice to be present for another through the dying experience. This principle continues as the basic foundation of how we embrace end-of-life. The Vigil Volunteer provides support and guidance at the bedside of the hospice patient, providing an invaluable gift to one who may have otherwise died alone. Our Vigil Volunteers may share music, prayer or simply their presence through this time.
You must be okay with receiving calls at the last minute. This does not mean you must be available, simply willing to receive the request.
If you feel the call to serve in this capacity, we welcome your willingness to serve. Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, at 904-737-2553
***** Please note**** The location given is simply a central location for Jacksonville. It is not the location where services are provided. Our patients live throughout Jacksonville in many facilities and homes.*****
