Fundraising Chairperson - Board of Directors

African Voices is seeking a self-motivated leader to join our Board of Directors and develop a successful fund raising plan to help build the organization’s resources. The candidate must have experience in non-profit and business management. The fund raising chairperson will be responsible for building a team to implement, develop and track key fund raising goals identified in our post-COVID 19 strategic fundraising plan. Candidate must have a MBA or equivalent background in business development. Candidates must possess a passionate love for arts and have a track record in successfully raising and managing funds. Candidate must be willing to committee 15 hours a month to working with Board members and staff to help achieve the organization's goals. Excellent Board opportunity for pioneers who enjoy rolling up their sleeves to make a profound contribution and investment in serving artists, young people and women of color. This is not a sitting Board position - your leadership and ideas will help drive the organization's growth for generations to come!

The Board meets three times a year and the standing committees work between meetings to accomplish goals set by the full Board. The Fundraising Chairperson will report to the Board Chairperson and Executive Director. Annual Board contribution is $500 (give or get).

* Building Organization's Endowment Funds

* local city and state government association and/or affiliation

* Manage board members in projects, as well as outside volunteers

Mission Statement

African Voices Communications, Inc is a non-profit arts organization devoted to supporting art, literature and film by artists of color.


Founded in 1992, the organization publishes a national literary magazine and sponors community programs for emerging artists including literary readings, writers conferences and workshops, a film festival for women of color and other events. African Voices runs the Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival & Lecture Series and Get Your Read On!, an arts literacy program for young people in low income communities.
