The Iris Compass Foundation is looking to grow the existing Board of Directors. The Board meets once a month to review and revise the strategic plan for the foundation. The foundation is about four years old and looking to grow. Interested candidates should have the ability to come to the monthly board meetings and respond to periodic emails. We especially need people with backgrounds in grant writing, accounting, and strategic planning, but welcome all areas of interest/business!

Mission Statement

The Mission of the Iris Compass Foundation is to foster independence and empower women through information and educational opportunities.

Description

The Iris Compass Foundation was established in 2012 to help women become more independent and successful. Our vision is to see achievement of true gender equality, where women are reaching their full potential. We value education and opportunity, always looking for opportunities to educate ourselves and our clients.

Gender equality is one of eight goals set by the United Nations’ Millennium Goals project; education and other resources is the key to achieving this goal. According to Meg Jones (2012), providing resources for women will lead to an increase in pay for women that they will spend on family, health, and education; Jones believes this will assist in breaking the poverty cycle in families.

Company Goals and Objectives: The goal of the Iris Compass Foundation is to empower women to make enabling, educated choices to live healthier lives, ultimately resulting in an increase in the average salary of women; to contribute to the United Nations Millennium Goal of gender equality by educating women.
