Volunteers work under the guidance of a permitted wildlife rehabilitator and are trained how to feed and care for baby squirrels. Duties include: feeding squirrels, cleaning cages, washing dishes, squirrel room maintenance and food preparation.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age to feed squirrels; minors 12 & 13 years of age can participate if accompanied by a parent or sibling who is at least 18 years of age. Volunteers must attend a 1 hour Orientation and a 2 hour Feeding Training and pay a $25 registration fee.
Once trained, volunteers can sign up to work shifts under the guidance of a Baby Squirrel Supervisor. Shifts run from 7:00 am to 11:00 am, 11L00 am to 3:00 pm, 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, 7 days a week.
