Volunteers work under the guidance of a permitted wildlife rehabilitator and are trained how to feed and care for baby opossums. Duties include feeding opossums, cleaning cages, washing dishes, weighing opossums, room maintenance, and food preparation.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age, attend a 1-hour Orientation, and pay a $25 registration fee.
Once trained, volunteers can sign up to work shifts under the guidance of an Opossum Supervisor. Shifts run from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm, and 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, 7 days a week.
To register for an Orientation, visit the TWRC Wildlife Center Opossum and Pals Program page at http://twrcwildlifecenter.org/volunteer/opossum-and-pals-program/
