JOIN our Volunteer Faculty!
Have you considered teaching a subject you love and know well to an older adult audience that is eager for stimulating, entertaining "lifelong learning" opportunities? Here’s your chance to engage with audiences from all backgrounds in the metro DC area by joining the "volunteer faculty" of the Jewish Social Service Agency’s (JSSA’s) Himmelfarb Mobile University (HMU).
Since 1989, HMU’s dedicated instructors have brought a variety of course topics - world cultures, history, literature, music, current events, and more - whatever you can share from your own expertise and experience - to senior residence facilities and activity programs. Courses are one hour in length and taught during the weekday. While the classes are all different, audiences and faculty share a stimulating, interactive, and rewarding educational opportunity that enriches both the instructor and the participants!
Explore how you can be part of this wonderful award-winning initiative. Sharing what most interests you with others who are eager to learn - but no tests or papers to grade! - just great teaching, great community service - and great fun!

For more than 120 years, the Jewish Social Service Agency (JSSA) has been helping individuals and families across the Washington metro area meet emotional, social, and physical challenges. JSSA provides services and support to more than 30,000 individuals and families annually through a wide range of counseling, education, specialized employment services, in-home care, hospice, senior care-management, and social services.
