**This is an unpaid intern position

This dedicated intern would be responsible for assisting in providing case management services to homeless individuals & families by helping to ensure their basic needs are being met while addressing long term needs and goals; Provide education, information, and mediation to tenants to understand their rights & responsibilities and promote safe, stable rental housing. Maintain accurate and complete documentation.

Essential Job Functions:

Supportive Housing and Homeless Voucher Programs: Assist staff by supporting them during case management involvement with clients. This includes home visits, goal setting, referring clients to services both within the agency and with outside community agencies, coordinating housing placement, assisting with emergency utility needs, conducting inspections and building professional relationships with landlords and other community agencies; donation pickup and delivery and help perform outreach services by assisting in conducting pre-screenings and advocating for the client’s needs.

Tenant Support Program: Provide information and educational materials to tenants and community members on Landlord/ Tenant rights & responsibilities; Research information regarding landlord and tenant issues; Maintain collaborative relationships with community partners including the Attorney General’s Office, Legal Services, City Zoning and Code Office, and Lincoln Housing Authority; Help Conduct RentWise workshops for participants

Administrative Tasks: Support staff by maintaining accurate and complete documentation and files on program participants ensuring compliance with all agency, state and federal guidelines; Research community information and resources; Shadow staff during home visits & client appointments; Attend required meetings and trainings; Assist staff with program reports and case reviews as needed; Clerical duties as assigned

We would like for this internship to last at least 3 months or even longer.

Established in 1965, Community Action Partnership of Lancaster and Saunders Counties Community Action empowers people living in poverty to reach economic stability. We offer 16 unique programs to ensure that everyone, regardless of their economic situation, has the opportunity to thrive.

Last year, Community Action served 17,805 individuals and families. Our high-quality early childhood education programs ensure that our community's most vulnerable children are ready for kindergarten, and more likely to graduate from high school. Families learn and save in our matched savings program as they work to purchase their first home, launch or expand a business, or continue their education. At Community Action, individuals build their skills in orer to acheive meaningful employment. We offer the critical next steps in establishing and maintaining long-term economic stability.

Our participants are remarkable people. They take responsibility for making lasting changes in their lives by making use of their own unique strengths. As a result, they are better able to manage their living situations, and make positive steps toward economic stability.
