One in five adults in Contra Costa County don't have the literacy skills needed to handle basic literacy tasks. Let us train you to work one-on-one with an adult on their individual literacy-related goals to empower them in their work and personal lives. After orientation and training by Project Second Chance (PSC), Contra Costa County Library's adult literacy program, tutors are assigned a student to meet with twice a week for 90 min. each time, at a time and public place convenient to both (typically the local library or online). PSC supplies learning materials, training, and ongoing support to tutors. Tutors volunteer approximately 4 to 6 hours per week (3 hours tutoring plus variable prep/travel).
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
