The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
Come volunteer with YEAH! (Youth Engagement Advocacy Housing), Berkeley's only shelter for transitional age youth (18-25). We need overnight volunteers to help oversee the shelter space, assist the shelter supervisors, help with lights out and wake up and generally hang out with some amazing Youth. The overnight position is from 11 PM-7AM, Monday through Thursday. Overnight Volunteers are welcome to nap throughout their shift but are expected to assist the supervisors throughout the night as needed.
Our shelter is open from November until Mid-May and we are looking for volunteers who can commit to a consistent shift through out these 6 months. We ask that the overnight volunteers commit to a minimum of 2 shifts per month, but if you are unable we are willing to work with your schedule.
We also require every volunteer to go through a training before they begin working at YEAH! The training is only about 1.5 hr. Please respond to this post to find out when the next scheduled training is.
