We are currently only looking for volunteers that are willing to make a weekly commitment and go through our training process which includes: orientation, class training, and one on one training sessions.

Our current COVID-19 policy requires all volunteers working around the animals (including transporters) to be COVID vaccinated with a vaccine/booster that has been received within the last 12 months. We have this policy due to certain species of wild animals we get in, like bobcats & mustelids, that can contract and die from COVID-19. Our center is essesntially one big shared space, making it impossible for us to effectively separate out those species from the rest or our animals.

Wildlife Center Volunteers are expected to work at least one 3 or 4 hour shift per week at The Baldwin Wildlife Center in Omaha, NE.

On-Site Volunteer Roles include:
- Mammal Nursery Volunteer
- Bird Nursery Volunteer
- Herptile Room Volunteer
- Diet Preparation Specialist (2 hour shifts available)
- Cleaning Specialist (2 hour shifts available)

*Herptile Volunteers will currently be "as needed/on-call" only.

All new volunteers are required to go through an in-person on-site Orientation before they qualify for the specific role trainings (i.e. Mammal Nursery Training, Herptile Room Training, Cleaning Specialist Training).

Volunteer Orientations, and Cleaning & Diet Prep Training Classes are held once per month year-round.

Bird, Herptile, and Mammal Training Classes are only held September through March.

More information about NWR's volunteer opportunites can be found on our website: https://nebraskawildliferehab.org/how-to-help/volunteer.html

Please submit an application, found on our website, before showing up to an orientation.
