Make a difference in another person’s life volunteering with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
Please note that in order to qualify for our federally funded programs, and receive a tax-free stipend, you must meet all of the following requirements:
* Be over the age of 55
* Must have an annual income at or below $30,160 for an individual (after allowable medical deductions)
* Consent to Federal and State level background checks
* 10 hours weekly service commitment

Description
Through a federal grant with AmeriCorps, the Department of Developmental Services sponsors the Foster Grandparent/Senior Companion Program through eight sites throughout the state. Foster Grandparents and Senior Companions who are at least 55 years old and who meet income requirements may volunteer with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities and receive a tax-free stipend.
